Furthermore, the active constituent in OLE oleuropein has been shown to increase the activity of nitric oxide synthase NOS. NOS catalyzes the production of nitric oxide from arginine in the body. Nitric oxide influences many valuable physiological functions in the body that affect such things as blood pressure control, erectile ability, and possibly even the muscular hypertrophy response. Caffeine, which is also included, is well established as a lipolytic agent and acts through several mechanisms, including phosphodiesterase inhibition. Its presence in the formula helps to ensure that the negative energy balance induced by the thyroid stimulating ingredients is compensated for by stored fat and not by body protein stores such as muscle tissue.
